Etiology
Bone or other indigestible, hard material
|
Pathogenesis
Hard, incompressible mass lodges in intestine and lacerates bowel
Alternative may be compression of blood supply with necrosis of bowel,
|
Epidemiology
Uncommon.
May be secondary to bezoar caused by eating indigestible materials, accumulation of undigested medication or enteric feedings.
May be psychiatric symptom

General Gross Description
Acute laceration with hemorrhage around the perforation
Foreign body usually still in place
