• Although previously called hamartoma, these lesions develop over years and
are not congenital.

Epidemiology
• Patients over 40; women outnumber men

• Rare cause of solitary lesion detected on radiographic studies

General Gross Description
• Solitary nodule or "coin lesion"
• May be firm and glassy depending on the amount of cartilage within the
lesion

General Microscopic Description
• Composed of mature cartilage, fibrous tissue, and fat as well as
occasional blood vessels and respiratory epithelium.
