Etiology
•Probably developmental defects.
|
Pathogenesis
•Developmental inclusion of secretory cells within the
hepatic parenchyma results in the progressive accumulation
of fluid and the development of a cyst.,

Epidemiology
•Much more common in males (4:1 to 5:1)
•Usually detected in adulthood as asymptomatic masses.
|
General Gross Description
•Usually in the right lobe of the liver
•Can be quite large, up to 20 litres in capacity
•Examples:

General Microscopic Description
•Simple cysts lined by cuboidal to columnar epithelium.
